I have the S3000 in my caravan however I have just checked the Truma web site and it states that this heater is for medium size caravans whilst the S5000 is for larger caravans. We have a Lunar 640 twin axle and now realised why we are always having problems with heating in the caravan. The heater is inadequate! I wonder if I can claim anything from Lunar?

Hi Ian

I agree Ian the web site does claim mid size caravans for the s 3002 series.

I also have a Lunar Lexon EW 26 footer. The fire fitted to mine is also the Series S3002 model which is Gas and Electric. The electric supply is only 2000W maximum which we find is enough for faily cold conditions. However if the gas is selected this provides 3400W which is more than enough for the coldest condition. To get more heat in the end wash room we close the vent in the Bedroom mid section. No complaints with mine so far.

Regards Jim

Hello Ian,

The choice of heater fitted to any caravan as origional equiepemnt is made by the caravan maufacturer, so as in your case, you should bring the issue to the attention of the caravan supplier and manufacture.

In the past I have encountered situations where an 18ft van was fitted with 1.6kW heater, and customers were continually complaining that the heater was inadequate. The caravan manufacture evetually made a statement that the van was only designd for summer use!

However more recent caravans will probably have better insulation and the S3000 heater may be adequate to raise the temperature of the van by 15 degrees - but dont open the doors!
