Truma Thermostat in Lunar Quasar 626

We have been having problems this weekend with the Truma Ultraheat thermostat, in that it was not kicking in until the temperature was set around the 7-8 mark so we had either full whack heat or none at all (we're too tight to use gas

).

I have a suspicion that heat from the fridge is effecting the sensor in the control dial as it is positioned in a panel/channel directly above it. Has anyone had a similar problem and is it considered a awarranty/design issue?

Would installing the plug in remote thermostat solve the problem (by overriding the existing thermostat) and does this still allow the temperature setting to be controled from the existing dial on the control panel?

Thanks in advance.

Your thoughts are exactly right.
The position of the wall switch, which also contains the thermostat, is not in a good position as the temperature behind the panel is much slower to change, with having the heat from the fridge also.
It is much better to fit a remote sensor which clips to the temperature sensor for the gas fire, overrides the wall switch, but is still controlled by the wall switch.
The part you need is :
30030-71000 Truma remote sensor,

It is not a warranty claim, but you may convince your dealer that it should have been fitted as the problem is well known.

Not absolutly correct? yes you could fit Truma's remote stat but that may not be the best solution? point being I've been making them since 2004 and mine work 100%, unlike, I have it on very good authority, the 'genuine' one?!
Also a darn sight cheaper and comes with a lot of simple advice to improve the heating further

Yes I can confirm that Garys work well having made one and fitted it to his specification on my Delta went to fit one on our brand new 2011 Quaser only to find that there is already one fitted in the same place from the factory.

I have fitted one in my last 2 vans. In both the heating was useless in cold weather. Easy to fit and well worth the money. I cant understand why Lunar dont move the thermostat some where else as we cant be the only ones to have this problem. Come on Lunar use your heads !!.

How would I go about procuring a sensor from you Gary?

Yes we had exactly the same problem in our 626 !

Dealer fitted a remote stat plugged into the fire and clipped onto the gas stat and all is now ok.
