Hi,

Sorry, but this message is on another thread aswell by mistake.

I've just purchased a 2001 Bailey Ranger 510-4 (private sale) and when I asked if all that should work does work, yes was the reply, however, when I got it home and checked for myself I found that the fire worked fine on electric but not on gas, with a new gas bottle I tried the cooker, ok, fridge, ok, water heater, ok, but not even a pilot light on the fire, I found the gas pipe under the van, there is a tee piece where a pipe goes to the fire, I undid the the flange nut and sure enough I had gas, the Pizzo ignition seems to work as I can see a spark through the glass spy hole on the fire.

Has anyone had this problem before?

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Jeff.

Hi Jeff, On a 2001 Bailey there should be an isolation valve for the heater, can't tell you where it is but there should be one, if so then make sure it's on, if the fire still won't light, it could be several things, a blocked burner, clogged injectors even a damaged control valve, i would advise getting an engineer to give it a service.

All gas powered heating appliances sold since 1980 by law must have a flame failure system, that automatically shuts off the gas supply to the burner if the flame extinguishes.

Many thanks for all your help one and all, the fire is now working perfectly on gas, all I need is a new gasket for the small spy window on the front of the fire.

Regards,

Jeff.

let me guess, you stuck a screwdriver down and moved the electrode a touch. This is a common prob in that heating and cooling eventually moves the electrode earth point out of the gas area so although you can see a spark it wont ignite, also holding the valve open for a length of time can flood the area with gas and when it does light the top sometimes gets blown off the chimney.

Thanks Dougie, all is well know and if you a little time to spare check out this tread on equipment & accessories, it might prove an interesting read.
