Paul, here is the routine you should follow:

Is there gas available?

Are the isolation taps switched on?

Is the cowl cover removed?

Is 12v available and working?

Have you checked the fuse on the electronic unit? if blown, replace with a 1.25aAT fuse.

If yes to all above:

When you switch on does the red light come on straight away?

if it does come on straight away, you need to replace the electronic unit.

OR does it come on after about 6 seconds?

If it comes on after 6 seconds, when you switch it on first, can you hear the gas valve "clunk" as it engages?

Can you hear the spark ignitor clicking?

If you cannot hear the gas valve "Clunk" into life, it needs replacing.

If you cannot hear the spark ignitor clicking, then it is one of 3 things, but at this stage, you should get a Truma approved engineer to look at it.

your burner probably needs cleaning if you feel competent to do this, if not get a gas fitter who is registered to work on lpg systems. take the four screws out of the heater cowl, remove cowl take the small screw out of the ally cover then remove the cover (this has a small flap on it)under the cover is the burner unit blow this out with compressed air (i used a tin of air from a airbrush set) reassemble the heater & try it hope this helps.I say again if not happy doing this get a gas fitter to look at it as it is covered by c.o.r.g.i.regs

vwman, your posting is completely wrong, in every respect.

Paul is talking about the TRUMA Ultrastore , and NOT the Carver Cascade to which you refer.

The other aspect is that the gas side of equipment is NOT covered by CORGI regs, they are however covered by the GSI & URS Regs 1998.

A fitter working on privately owned caravans or motorhomes does NOT have to be GORGI registered, but MUST be competent and preferably have the ERS accreditation.

Hi,

If you look at a posting further down re Truma Ultrastore you will see that I have posted an answer which I think my help you relating to the battery needing to be fully charged to power the ignition of the water heater. Hope this helps.

Damian, many thanks for your reply, i can safely say that all the things you mention are happening. there is a "dunk" and the spark igniter attempts to light
