Truma water heater

Hi ,I have a Abbey 417 2002 that requires a truma water heater element ,450w . no one seems to have stock of this part, and it has been suggested I can fit a 850w element.my problem is the original does not have a connection for a thermostat , but the 850w has a lead for the external thermostat,do I just ignore this extra lead or connect it to somewhere. hoping someone can help

I'm unable to advise on your question but I'm sure some of the more technical minded members will have a few ideas.
