Hello,i havant a idea on what to do,i have a 2003 bailey pageant bordeaux,i have recently tried the gas heating up it and turned the dial on the truma gas heater all the way up to around 9 or 10 but it dosent seem to kick out enough heat for what i think it should do

Have only had this caravan for 4 months so have had a gas safety check done on it before i used the gas, which by the way the caravan maintaince guy said it was all safe

I have heard from a few friends that normally but putting the heating setting on between 2-3 should be more than sufficient to keep the cold away but im putting it on 9 and i still feel cold and the bunks in the seating area and the fixed bed still feel cold
Have tried playing with the blow air heating but dont seem to help, anyone know where im comming from or have experience with this?thank you

Just to say i dont think its just me as have had a couple of other family members come and sit up it and they thought it was cooler for what it should be too

Thanks for that.
The heater has an output of 3Kw, which is quite high, but it takes quite a long time for the fabric of the van to warm up, during which time the heat is being absorbed by the furniture, cupboards and everything else in the van.

Providing you have sufficient gas available, which means using Propane at this time of year then you should have sufficient heat available.
It is best to run the fire without the blown air fan running until the heat exchanger has thoroughly heated up, then run the fan at 3 or on Auto, having selected the temp you want to achieve.

Thanks for your feedback,Yes do have propane gas,flo gas and being a 47kg bottle should have more than enough gas,had it laying about at home so put it on to test out the heater as smaller bottle was empty,on using the blow air after a hour of the heater warming up it seemed to be blowing out cold air but will have to try it again tomorrow and see if i see any improvement, just seemed cold compared to other caravans my friends have with the same heating system

There is a big difference between a gas safety check and a heater service. I suggest you arrange to get a mobile engineer to come and service the heater

Like the Prof I do wonder if it needs a service as we have had them on similar sized caravans and they worked fine. If you are hooked up to the mains, combining electricity with the gas should help, I have not checked the exact model of Truma you have, but assume it is dual fuel.

Gas appliances can last for many years, but like most mechanical devices, to maintain performance the do need to be serviced. Even if an appliance stands idle for much of its life, as in a caravan, it will deteriorate and will usually work better after a service. Often its not parts that have broken that are the problem, but effects of corrosion, in some cases it can be residues from the gas that can impede gas flows, or it might be an insect crawling into a critical space.

As with all domestic gas appliances, it should be serviced by a competent qualified person, who will know how to do teh service and more importantly how to test the appliance and system to make sure its safety is assured.

If you are using the electric check the ampage of the supply. On a 16 amp hook up you should be OK but on lower ones you might need to keep an eye on what else is running.

On our Sterling the heater had a valve at the back of the heater which you could adjust to give heating to the vent of the fire, maybe this is "Closed/Open"

Topics been more or less covered on all bases, I will add the 3002 in it's various guises has been in production since the mid 70's and a mighty fine heater it is. So rest assured once the problems found it will roast you with or without the electrics help.
I will add though, the heater is regulated at the front just under the bottom and behind the fire front, if there's some carpet there blocking air flow this will fool the sensor and switch the heating down prematurely, as will sensor fitted at the back of it's support bracket instead of infront, again shielding it from the air flow
