Hi

i have a Coachman Amara 2000 and have just returned form our first outing today

as it was a little chilly this morning i turned on the electrical side of the trumavent heater which works great

I have now returned home and hooked my caravan up to the house electrics and i have noticed that the fire is still on even though is it switched of at the main panel (the one with 3 different power settings and the thermostat) the only way i can stop the electrical heater working it to turn it off at the fusebox

has anybody got any ideas what this may be

Are you sure that the heating element is on and not just the fan?

Check the fan switch on the left hand control of the heater.

Lee the year of manufacture tells me what the fault is. It is the element control PCB at the rear of the fire,on this pcb there are 3 relays which control the connections to the two elements. this is a common fault with these pcb,s in that the relays are underated and the internal contacts stick together. The control switch will do nothing.

I have repaired many of these pcb,s for Forum members at a much smaller cost than a new pcb.About

Hi

I have had problems with my TRUMA heater cutting out and not coming on again. It seems to be a common problem,I have read that the relays have to be updated, can anyone help me with this

problem? I did read some time back that these relays were obtainable from MAPLINS with a part number N30AW any help would be appreciated.

Many Thanks

Norman, the Truma cutting out and not coming back on may actually be due to the location of the control switch, and you may need an extension thermostat, or room sensor,to be precise.

The problem is usually that the area behind the wall switch heats up to temperature, the fire cuts out, as it should, but the van main area cools much more quickly than the enclosed void at the back of the wall switch.

Hi Norman you have got the part no right, How old is your caravan? it was up until 2004 before the manufacturers realised there was a problem with sticking relays.the early Pcbs only had 10amp rated contacts, then they uprated to 16amp contacts.

I have mended quite a few of these for forum members.Lee who started this post will have had his done buy now.

e-mail me if you like user@123thedowns.fsnet.co.uk

Hi Damian,

Thank you for your help. I have changed the relays at the back of the fire so I will see if that has solved the problem,If not I will give your suggestion a try, but is that a job that can be done easily? Thanks for your help.

Hi

Thanks for your reply, my van is a 2003 Award Brightstar,I have replaced the three relays, two of them were pitted so I will see if this will solve the problem. Many thanks for your help.
