tv and 12 volt socket

H there we have a sterling eccles and are finding that our television doesnt work properly using the 12 volt socket (cigarette lighter type) we have sound but no picture have checked the ariel and have got it working off a seperate battery. Could the socket be at fault. Although we can manage without a tele would like to have the thing working to keep a 9 year old happy in watching the x factor this weeken. many thanks
 
Helen we have the Ace Jubilee Statesman and had the same problem as the wiring does a full lap of the caravan before arriving at the TV point 2 metres away from the battery.I have run a thicker cable from the battery to the TV point and this has solved the problem as well as improving the Status aerial performance.A further mod was to put a relay by the socket and feed it with the original lead thus ensuring that the habitation relay could switch off the socket on tow.Swift in the 2005 brochure list " uprated feed to TV point"!!!
