Hi We have a status 315 aerial which came with our van and we never seem to get a good picture ( if any picture). Is it worth upgrading to a better aerial and what should we try. Please answer in simple terms as I am not technically minded.

Thanks

Denise.

Frankly we gave up and got an ordinary Ariel and mounted it on a pole attached to the awning rail - fantastic pic then.

The Statsu worked OK if you were in an area with a really strong signal - usually we weren't

Now we use a Satellite - and have no problems

Ashas been said on numerous occassions, the status omni directional aerials are poor at best.....dont knoe why they fit 'em.

Try one of the mini dish sat dishes from Maplins...I manage to get a Grade B for

Hi i would advise that you check the coax cable into the back of the aerial sockets to see if any of the copper braiding is touching the centre core.I had this and my reception was awful until i remade the cable.

I realise I may be teaching granny to suck eggs but if there is an amplifier make sure it is turned on.

Our first van had an omni directional aerial and we never used it because we could not get anything on it,we used a household one instead.

When I was emptying the van for PX I found an amplifier in a very difficult position to spot and it had of course been turned off to save the batteries, I was never aware it had an amp.

We find our existing Status 530 unidirectional aerial and amp very good.

Forget your aerial and go sattelite. With one of Maplins "Sattelite suitcases" and advice from website "Sattelite for caravans you will get good picture anywhere you can get good view of sky in southerly direction.
