TWIN AXLE MOTOR MOVERS

I have a twin axle Avondale Argente and am wanting to purchase a motor mover to assist with manouverability. Does anyone have experience of using motor movers on a twin axle?

I have been told differing things regarding one set of movers or two on a twin axle and am unsure of the best set-up. I am considering buying a Powrtouch.

I currently have a 4 wheel drive powrtouch fitted to my Wyoming.

Initially I had tried the two wheel drive version but found that although it did cope it seemed a bit of a struggle.

No matter whether it is a two or four wheel drive a twin axle will not turn on its axis as easily as a single axle version. I need to turn my van 180 degrees on a narrow road to get it in and out of my drive for storage. Depending on your needs I would recommend a four wheel drive if you can afford it.

I am from Truma UK. We offer the Mover TE two motor twin axle. Although I agree that you wont get as tight a turning circle as you would with a four motor equivilent (although not much greater) the reasons why we stuck with a two motor are the following points.

1) Weight is always an issue and a two motor has half the components therefore half the weight - 50% lighter.

2) Cost - we manage to keep the price down only having two motors. RRP

Perhaps I was not clear enough in my earlier post. Like you I have a Wyoming, originally I had a two wheel drive powrtouch fitted as the caravan weight was within its limits. My caravan is stored on my driveway which is quite steep, also when out of the drive I need to turn the van 180 degrees on a narrow road. The two wheel drive mover did cope but I felt that on the slope it was just a bit too much for it, also turning on the narrow road meant quite a bit of to and fro to get it around. When I contacted Powrtouch I was very pleasantly surprised about how little extra they were going to charge so I decided to go for the upgrade. If the price had been too much then I would have been o.k. to stick with the two wheel drive. I would say that under most conditions the two wheel drive version would cope well enough, but the four wheel drive does make a big difference.

I have had a really bad experience with Reich movers. They are too heavy especially the twin axle version. I would suggeat you look at the brands that have been recommended by other users but definately NOT REICH.
