Oh God I hear you all moan, not another noseweight question.......I'm afraid so, but I'll keep it short.

Is the noseweight on a T/A van as critical as with a single axle van?

Thanks guys in advance.

The short answer is yes. Although twin axled caravans tend to hold a straight line better, noseweight reduces with speed and inadequate noseweight can actually even turn negative, lifting the back end of the towcar up at speed. As the twin will want to go in a straight line more than a single axle, the car's ability to pull the caravan around corners may be impaired if there's not enough back-end load.

Hello Nick,

I fully agree with everything Lutz has written, but I would add one more point,

Because of the way the suspension interacts on a TA, it is even more important to check the nose weight load at the real height of the tow ball when it is loaded.
