tyre inflation

How do people check their tyre pressure?
I have to go ten miles to a garage and then buy diesel in order to check mine.

I've tried to buy an inflator but there are none that have an 'angled T' adaptor which lets you see to the inner wheel when you have two wheels together.

Hello there,
I think you mean you have twin rear wheel sets on your motorhome's rear axle. If that's right, then I'm pretty sure the item you're talking about is this: http://bit.ly/ADuvH1 (from The Tyre Equipment Company - www.tyre-equipment.co.uk). However, I don't know whether it'll fit the pump you carry.
You might be better off with tyre valve extensions (see http://bit.ly/zD8u4h) - these screw into your inside wheel valves and extend to the outer ones, allowing you to check the pressures easily with a proper tyre pressure gauge. I must add that I have never used these, so can't recommend them, but for the price (£3.50 approx), they must be worth a try.
For what it's worth, I don't trust garage air pumps' accuracy, so I carry a Halfords analogue tyre pressure gauge (very accurate and never runs out of batteries, because it doesn't have any). See http://bit.ly/wwfdho for more details. This, combined with the tyre vale extensions, might do the trick for you.
Good luck!
Andy

Thanks, that's brilliant.
No matter what the problem is there's always an answer (usually very detailed) out there in camper-land.
I'm surprised what I've learned in under a year. I can even give my own advice now.
It's nice to be part of a big, friendly family.
