Tyre issue

Bought a Bailey Ranger 460/4 last year. Just had it serviced and the guy said the tyres weren't the right psi. Tyres are Kendo
Kargo G3 with a max psi of 50. But the plate on the van side says they should be 55psi. Does it make a huge difference? Existing tyres are in date and in good condition. Should I change them?

What is the weight limit stated against the max psi on the tyre?
It should be over half that of the caravan, if it isn't then they will need changing.
Obviously you will need to run the tyre close to that pressure.

You need to check the Load Index of the tyre to establish its maximum load. Then as Gumpy says doubling it should exceed the MTPLM of the caravan. Some advise a 10% margin over the tyres’ maximum load.

My caravans have had a label by the door giving makers tyre size, and inflation pressure. Within the tyre size is Load Index. Your owners manual will also give details. The link below gives the tyres load carrying maximum for a given Load Index.

Do note that the max pressure embossed in the side of the tyre is found on all tyres and is a US regulation so even if you technically overload the tyres you are not committing any sort of offence.
