tyre pressures more info

Hi All, I knew there would be people out there who know. I have looked at the tyres they say 175/R13 just above on the van it says tyre pressure 42 psi. I have looked in the manual aswell, it says tyre size 175/SR x 13 reinforced radial.

tyre pressure 42 psi. And they don't say anything about being laden or not. So do you asume that this pressure is for fully laden as who goes away with nothing. The reason I ask is because when we return of hols from France we always come heavier than going ( yes it the wine, what ever area we are in)what can I say !!

The 42 psi will apply to a fully laden caravan on the assumption that most of the travelling will be to and from sites when you will be fully laden.

If you are returning from France considerably heavier than going because of all the wine that you are bringing back in the 'van I think you are asking for trouble. The payloads of caravans is not great and you are probably exceeding the MTPLM of your 'van. I understand that the police on either side of the channel are on the look out for overloaded units. I carry my wine back in the car loaded in the back seating area so that it is between the axles.

Marie, the tyre pressure is for a "normally" loaded van, within the MTPLM.

Loading wine in any great amount will undoubtedly take you over this limit and will invalidate any insurance, as well as making you liable to a very heavy fine, and confiscation of the wine.
