2 diffrent qoutes for tyres one company says 6 ply reiforced are ok the over says only 8 ply will do got a brand new tyre from a friend bailey ranger that is same size but is only 6 ply this came with the van when new so this must be ok (bailey fitted} just need to swap rim my van is a sprite alpine so not at the heavy end of caravans.

hi,how old is the tyre???? think you will find in the last 6 years at least 8 ply tyres are fitted to all new caravans as far as i'm aware???

You can get a VERY rough idea of what you need by taking your MTPLM, adding about 30% and dividing by 2. This will give the max loading per tyre. I do not know your van but guess the MTPLM is around 1300 kg and probably 175 x 14 tyres are fitted. Therefore a possible tyre load will be about 775 kg and this requires 8 ply commercial grade tyres.

However, either check with the dealer or Swift before you buy anything to make sure you get the correct ones.

I`ve just fitted and balanced two new tyres to my caravan, bought them from www.camskill.co.uk GT Radial MaxMiler 8ply, well pleased with the service and price. Check out their site and click on van tyres then choose your size, tyre price includes VAT and the delivery was only

What is the tyre's load rating? (Load rating is the number shown on the tyre sidewall behind details of the size). It is more important that the load rating is sufficient than if the tyre is 6 or 8 ply.

Yes, the 91 says the tyre is rated at 615kg and the 'T' is the speed rating.

just had a major problem on mine tyre wise with this size of tyre,195/70/R14/96N.could not get them mid range price.emailed bailey and the said the tyre we had was
