They had also been recut and the advisory opinion was that the recut had gone too close to the reinforcing threads. One wonders how many miles it had travelled since the MoT was issued. We were heading south from Cumbria that day and came across the accident no more than a minute after it had occurred. Tragic hardly does it justice.
