We are planning a trip to Spain and wondered if anyone uses the above site for watching UK television from abroad?
Does it do what it says on the tin?
Does anyone have any other reccomendations for being able to watch live and catchup television from Spain?
I am not keen about changing my IP address.
We mainly watch BBC1
Thanks
Barry

My experience of trying to use such services abroad on a laptop is that the come up as not available in your region. One way to overcome this is to use a routing service which tricks the service provider into thinking you are in the UK which is done by IP address. Your only other option will be satellite television.

Thanks David,
I am not very well up on the techy side of things like IP addresses and am unsure about how to go about it - and perhaps more importantly, to return to a status quo. I have found a web site called www.granada keys.com.
Have you heard of it and does it do the same thing as you are suggesting?
I appreciate your reply and interest.
Thanks, Barry

Having a computer background & living in France, I'm often asked about television or 'Catch-up TV' over the internet.
As David said, you have to fool (spoof) the 'broadcaster' into thinking you are in the UK & this can be done by routing your connection via a UK service that provides a UK IP address.
There are any number of such services but in my experience, because what you are actually trying to do is (technically) illegal, most of them are what I would term as dodgy, they have to make their money somehow & this is often by pop-ups/pop-unders, routing searches to obscure search engines (that they get paid for) etc.
I've had to clean trojans from friends computers & I'm pretty sure they came from one of these IP Spoof services.
The only way I would recommend is to use a paid for VPN service, because you are paying for the service they don't need to do anything else to raise money & as you have paid, you have some way of verifying them.
There are a number of such services, I'll not recommend one but http://www.best-vpn-provider.com/ & http://vpnstudy.com/ gives lists of most of the best ones.

My daughter managed to watch last year's Wimbledon final in Brittany on my laptop using this site and the camp's free Wi-Fi access. The awning was crowded with other Brits, it turned into quite a party. Don't ask me how she did it, I have enough problems logging onto this forum !!!

You can download Expatshield, it hides your ip address, i live in France and have used it a few times, but only to listen to my local radio station(sad I know), only problem for me is the amount of ads on the screen, way to many.

According to what I've read from Best VPN Service Mag, the best way to watch UK Television is to use a proper Virtual Private Network (VPN) which can bypass all geographic restrictions for seamless browsing. Apart from VPN products featured, they have also a list of Proxies and non-biased reviews.
