Ukraine & beyond

No experience, but there are a couple of German tour operators Steppenfuchs Reisen and www.overlandtours.de that specialise in overland motor home expeditions to Mongolia, so it's obviously not as unusual as it seems.

Hi
Towed a caravan to Ukraine and back in 2001. Did not stay on any recognised Ukranian caravan sites, in fact did not see any!

Went as far as Chernigov, which is about 100km north of Kiev. On entire trip stayed at proper site only once, that was in Poland on the way back. Went with a group, some of whom had been before, and don't think I would not go as a single unit. The roads at the time were very poor - in fact the old military road from the Polish border at Chelm to Kiev was awful and virtually shook the caravan to bits.

Thanks for that Bro Groat - we are expecting to wild camp so no problem there and we have a small sturdy van with high axel which should be OK on poor roads - at east we are hoping so! Also think/hope? they may have improved a bit recently? Wasnt sure if you were saying you wouldnt go as a single unit or that you would be happy to - if not, what would be your reasons?
