Ultrafire unusual problem

The ultrafire works fine on gas, 500w, 1000w but there is a problem with the 2kw setting. Whenever I switch to that setting sooner or later the electrics are tripped even though there is nothing else on.
It has been suggested that the element is at fault (hard to believe) so it must be a) faulty MCB b) faulty 2kw control panel setting c) ?
I would welcome any ideas about how to solve this problem even though it does not stop us using the caravan-I hate not knowing why something doesn't work!

We had a similar problem on our heater, would run for about 5 minutes at 2000 and then trip out, other settings OK. It was the trip switch at fault and when replaced not had the fault again.
