Ultraheat Element

AT our last outing the Ultraheat Water Heater refused to work on mains. I checked the circuit and concluded the element had gone. Mobile engineer came the following day and confirmed my diagnosis and fitted a new element.(£100) While chatting to him he mentioned that, probably the element itself was perfectly OK but that the little heat sensor/over ride protector wired into the element and the side of the heater was the fault. I took the element home, removed the sensor and checked the element which was fine. Does anyone know where I can buy the heat sensor? (or whatever it is called!) I can then get an electrician to fit the sensor and reuse the element when/if it goes again. Thanks

The overheat sensor is not available as a spare part.
The elements are supplied by the manufacturer with them fitted.

From your description of events, it would seem that maybe the water heater was switched on before the system was filled, which then tripped the sensor, and it will not reset until the water tank is cold and power has been removed from the van for about 10 to 15 minutes.

Thanks Damien but the engineer confirmed that the'element' was broken. I had done all the normal checks (been caravanning for 35+years!!) before I rang the engineer. He thought a similar component may be found in Maplins.
