Uncomfortable Beds

The cushions in the rear bedroom on our Elddis are in good condition but the ridges between the cushions are uncomfortable. We currently sleep with a thick duvet under us but it doesn't help much. Has anyone tried the mattress toppers advertised in the caravan magazines, or the Memory foam that the adverts rave about?

Hi Ann

Yes the memory foam toppers do make a big difference. I have a Raskelf 2" one and it has made the difference between wanting to be in the caravan and not, so yes, they do the job.

Hi Anne

We use memory foam mattress toppers & find them very comfortable. There has been a lot of discussion about this in the past & you can use the search option to find out everyone else's suggestions. I bought ours off ebay & they were cheaper than others I've seen. I bought 2 single bed ones & put them inside single duvet covers. You can cut them easily with an electric bread knife if they are a bit too big. The only problem is that they are rather bulky - ours are 2inches thick. This is ok if you have a fixed bed or can leave the beds made up but it is a bit of a *** to roll them up & wrestle them into the underseat storage every day.

Regards

Sue

Hello Anne:

I have a 'dicky' back and my first nights spend in our Senator Oklahoma (fixed double bed) were uncomfortable. I too took the plunge and bought a Raskelf memory foam topper and cover. It's pricey but makes a huge difference. I now sleep as well in the caravan as I do at home (and even that's prone to problems as my back plays up at around 4am !!)

In a word; you won't regret it!

Hi Judie

I am at 'that stage' of life when the nights are hot!!! I can say that I have not found the memory foam hot and I would definitely recommend them for comfort. A further precaution would be to use a 100% cotton cover with them if it was a concern.

We found our caravan bed far too firm for sleeping comfortably and having had a back injury and a disc removed, it was a big problem for me. We recently took the plunge and got ourselves two memory foam overlays (easier to roll up and store under the seats) They were expensive (

we too have a raskelf memory foam overlay - and our bed is pure bliss to sleep on - I have a bad back and arthritis and there no back ache on waking. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for!
