Universal awning annex

Has anyone used a universal annex ? Are they sturdy enough to withstand storm or windy weather, or should we pay more for a ventura annex to fit our Ventura marlin porch awning?

I got one last year biggest waste of money ever went ouyt and bought the proper zip in one what a difference no leaks totally wind and watertight.
