Where are you finding out what car is registered with these private plates?

I work in car sales so have access to HPI (car data check)

A printer chum of mine owned his own company called Odessa in South London. The number plate he had on his Merc was ODE 55A and another colleague was after CHR 155Y for his wife Chrissy but the owner wasn't budging.

Where are you finding out what car is registered with these private plates?

One of the online insurance companies (can't remember which one) also has this facility. You type in the reg. no. and it tells you what car it is.
