the shogun doesn't need updating it needs totally rebuilding, my dad has an 05 reg and my friend a 09 and both say they made the wrong decision. noisy un refined, poor handling heavy fuel consumption etc etc etc all things ive heard over and over again from both of them.

That's your opinion icemaker l have had 3, one for 4 years no problems change to a Maverick big mistake, next Shogun for ten years after 106,000 mile only changed 5 bulbs and fuel line ruptured, serviced once a year faultless now on my 3rd and bollocks to Gordon Brown will pay the 400 quid, at least mine got the wife round to all her patients this year with the heavy snow more than you could say for some 4x4.

Unless you have owned one your self how can you comment, always my mate my in-laws said this.

Plenty on this forum have one and are pleased with the good old Shoggy.

I am 100% with NGH on this one. I have a 07 LWB Shogun, Cracking motor. I also tow with my good ladies BMW X5 and to be honest apart from a bit more power and car like handling the shogun is just as good.

Nigel, where in my post did i say the shogun was un-reliable ?. i would be astounded if it was un-reliable since its been around for so long, i stated that it was un refined noisy and had poor handling !. and come on if my father owns one and my friend of 40 years who incidentely is on his 4th shogun all be it his last (according to him)are the ones im listening to then surely i can form an opinion. it may come as a surprise to you but i did actually take a serious look at the shogun but decided after a test run and the advice of others not to buy it.

on a final note yes we do have some happy shogun owners on this forum, but next time your on site have a look round and see how few of them are around now, it seems to me that all the ex shogun owners i know have now become sorento owners !.

You can only put a new heart in something so many times before everything round it needs to re built too !.

Icemaker l took etc to mean all the other innuendoes such has unreliable,

You say its noisy, l mean it's a diesel, o/k its not one of the 50K diesels any increase in noise against those you would need a stethoscope to tell the difference, can hardly here mine o/k when you first start on a cold winters day may have a little rattle but that's normal for any diesel.

At the moment mine has to be serviced by the dealer until the warranty runs out but my normal service guy l use hates them, why because he can't make money out of them as nowt goes wrong, think l will stick with

What do you find pathetic?

When will you ever get everyone to agree, on anything, buying a car is a very personal thing, drivers come in all shapes and sizes, along with different desires and demands.

I would be absolutely amazed if every one like my xtrail as i do, so if anyone wants to slag it off go ahead, it's only a lump of metal that gets one from a to b.

When it can't do that, its not even a lump of metal, just a piece of scrap.

martin, that is quite a strong statement to make over postings made on a forum, after all thats part of the parcel when all have the opportunity to voice their opinions, something they have the right to do.

as for "pathetic", your post seems to me to be the most i have ever come across since joining in this forum. yes, there are some threads that can stray into personal bantering between others, but more often or not one of them will relent and agree with the others opinion. also, the mods do a good enough job of monitoring any innappropriate postings, i learned that myself when i flaunted the forum rules.

will never know you in reality buddy, but you certainly sound like one sad banana.
