Urgent help needed again for twin electrics

I took all advice given before and went ahead with cheapest quote for full twin electrics for my Merc towbar (£230 all in).

Now hooked up, my van can sense the car battery and run interior lights off it (with engine off), but I get no reversing lights, and fridge won't turn on, with or without engine running.

It's possible my reversing bulbs need replaced - had caravan 2 years and never used them as had no grey socket on previous car. Likewise, never ran fridge on 12V, so... don't know if the fault lies in van (I'll check the bulbs tomorrow) or the car socket.

I don't know anyone else with either a twin socket car OR van to test it, unless I go to our local dealer for a favour, but they're a bit gruff, really! Not wanting to go accusing my towbar fixer of a bad job, is there an easier way to test my van before I may need to?

We go to France in 8 days!

failing that, get a test lamp and get 'probing' those wires.

We are born again tuggers and have recently bought a new swift but I don't have the grey socket on the Merc. It was too much hassle to fit and it needed relays to work properly so I didn,t bither. I had the Westfalia removable ball fitted which just to buy was

Tim, why not just ask the tow bar fitter what he had provided as far as the 12S was concerned? Perhaps all he has provided is the permanent feed and not the fridge relay or reversing lights.

In any event with the aid of a spare grey plug and a 12v test lamp it is easy to check the 12S supplies.

Take the cover off the plug and connect it to the socket.

Connect one side of the test lamp to pin 3 and the other to pin 4 - the lamp should light as that is your permanent feed which is running your interior lights. Take the lead from pin 4 and put it on pin 1- select reverse gear, with ignition on, and the lamp should light. Take the lead from pin 3 and connect it to pin 7 with the other lead on pin 6. Start the engine and the lamp should light which is the fridge supply.
