Urgent problem of the toilet kind

Yes, it has happened. Thetford bog c-200s. The black handle on the pan that opens the blade to the waste. Its just flapping about and won't open it. No resistance. Did a half arsed solution by removing the lid from the cassette and half forcing the blade open. Enough for a #1. Any hints as to how to fix this blasted thing? Cheers

I would " like" to help you, the handle has obviously come off of a spigot. You need the help of Dusty Dog, The Woosie Clubs thunder bucket specialist. And hopefully soon.

Check the Thetford website there are downloads for servicing and replacement of parts.

Yep. Half your payload is for the spares, and the come in handy bits that will probably not be required as long as you have them with you. 😂
True, after getting stuck on wet grass once we bought some matting and never have needed it. When one fuse blew Possibly eight years ago I bought a set and never used those either. I have lost a couple of extending mirrors though so the spares do come in handy sometimes.

So an update. Refitted the handle and cog so moving properly. Even with the cassette out and flap off, it will only partially open when I twist the knob. Is this telling me the root of the problem is a knackered cassette?

Not really. The parts of the cassette are easily replaceable so there’s little to go wrong with the cassette body unless it should have been damaged in an area that interfaces with a component part.

I think from memory the saddle moves from straight to about 45 degrees, if when the cassette is fitted it only partially opens then you need to rotate the saddle on the gears slightly until it opens correctly. This can be achieved with a little downward pressure (gently) on the half moon gear, this will allow the gear to rotate.
