I bet it's better than trying to start off in second third fourth and fifth !! 😛

Hi James. It's not something we came across in our research, but I'll ask the chap who wrote it if he knows more.

Hi James. I've checked with my colleague who wrote the article and he says he found no mention of that. When the car was tested in the Tow Car Awards in 2012, there was mention of the tall first gear meaning it needed to be worked a bit harder on a 1-in-6 slope, but that's pretty steep, so we didn't think it'd be so much of an issue in the real world. Maybe drive a few and make sure your test route includes hills, to see what you think?

From feedback from former field engineer colleagues where the company has changed to the i40 (estate) I gather that it is rather low slung compared with the previous Mondeo and Astra estates they used.
