I agree - I've been driving a 2007 Patriot for five years or so. They're expensive when they go wrong (£800-ish for a clutch replacement!) but mine hasn't gone wrong often and overall probably hasn't cost any more to run than any other car. Fuel consumption for the diesel is astonishing for a car of its type and it's a very capable tug.
