If you want a big tow car without a big outlay, have you considered a secondhand Jeep Patriot? You'll need to buy with care, but these can be great, all-weather tow cars. To read our expert's advice, please click here.
I agree - I've been driving a 2007 Patriot for five years or so. They're expensive when they go wrong (£800-ish for a clutch replacement!) but mine hasn't gone wrong often and overall probably hasn't cost any more to run than any other car. Fuel consumption for the diesel is astonishing for a car of its type and it's a very capable tug.
