Using a twin axle hobby or fendt

Hi everyone PLZ can anybody tell me if I buy a fendt or hobby twin axle caravan can I tour around in this country or Europe or are these vans sited for people to live in as it's driving me mad not knowing and also any dealers in germany or there abouts someone can recommend me to buy from that can speak English I would be very grateful if have tried searching but not getting what I want

Hi Buzzy, in the UK most large sites allow twin axle caravans, some of the smaller sites and the grass pitches do not "like " or allowed twin axle caravans as they tend to mess up the grass. Just plan carefully where you want to go to, not as easy in Holland and France.

You will need to see the specifications of the vans to see if they are classed as touring or static caravans.

Some of the models of caravans made by these companies are too big to be legally towed by normal domestic cars on a Cat B of BE license entitlements. Check the weights and dimensions carefully before buying.

These makes of vans are popular with the "traveling community" and unfortunately that can predispose some site owners to restricting access to their sites.

I can make no comment regarding legalities of use abroad.

I was going to say what the Prof has just posted. The other point is that twin axles of any make can be heavy and you need to make sure that you have a tow car heavy and powerful enough to tow it.

Thanks everyone for their comments I believe the new 4x4 I'm getting can actually tow
2.2 k ton I think the one I wanted to get the fendt is about 1900 kg
I will bair in mind all advice and get information from caravan people too

If you go for the Fendt at 1900 kg then you will need a suitably heavy tow car I would suggest at least over 2,100 kg kerb weight. Do not be fooled by the manufacturers towing limit this is simply its ability to restart that weight on a 12% slope.
Caravans have large slab sides and are susceptible to side winds and the bow wave from large vehicles. You need a suitably heavy tow car to control this. For people new to towing it is suggested that the caravan is no more than 85% of the cars kerb weight but exceeding this by a modest amount is permissable.

if you contact PJ Joeressen GMBH in Munchengladbach they are HOBBY dealers WWW.joeressen.de lots of emails addresses. ask for Frans he one of the directors. He speaks good english. they will offer a 10% discount on new vans.
I am awaiting delivery of my new one
