I'm viewing a 1991 Vanyoyce 500/5 and a 1997 ABI Jubilee supreme today, both have been re-upholstered and are about the same price (the ABI a little dearer)

We have an MG ZT-T that currently pulls our Swift 430/4 like its not there.

Which would you consider to be the best buy and why/

It all depends on the overall condition of the respective caravans.
Assuming that you are equally happy with the layouts, level and standard of equipment and price of both caravans check carefully for signs of damp or neglect.
Start with an external inspection of both caravans, check the operation of the hitch damper by pushing the hitch toward the rear of the caravan and check for any play. There should be resistance when the hitch is pushed back and it should return smoothly to it's original position.
Check the operation of the hanbrake, locker catches, lights and look inside the light lenses for signs of moisture.
Check the awning rails and note the condition of the mastic seals around joints. Ask how long the tyres have been on each caravan, tread wear is no indication that the tyres are ok because due to sidewall deterioration tyres should be changed every 5 years.
Look round the windows for splits and scratches then go inside the caravans.
If there is a musty smell this is indicative of damp. Look at the wallboards and ceiling panels for signs of discolouration, bubbling or peeling, check inside lockers and undeneath cushions and bed boxes. Is the floor springy or creaky as you move around? Look for signs of damp, especially where roof front rear and side panels form joints.
Look behind curtains and lift the edges of window rubbers, black mould is a sure sign of damp. Check the operation of blinds, rooflights and all appliances and ask to see evidence of regular servicing.

I hope that you will be happy with whatever choice that you make and that my little pointers will be of some help when you are deciding.
Let us know how you get on and good luck

Thanks for the tips they were very helpful.

We went with the newer van in the end it was slightly longer but lighter and, of course, 6 years younger!
