I know its been in the mag but I can't find the relevant one! I'm about to buy a new van but what are the VAT impplications, or rather how can I buy now, take delivery in 2011 and not pay the VAT increase. Every dealer seems to have a different interpretation.

Hi Steve
There has been an online article which mentioned that Swift Caravans were protecting customers against the VAT increase if orders were placed during the October NEC caravan show.

The best bet now would be to decide which make / model of caravan you want to buy and ring round supplying dealerships to try to broker a deal. I think that you would be required to pay in full before the increase comes into effect even though your caravan probably wouldn't be delivered before next summer.

Many thanks. However, one dealer tells me I can pay the VAT in full up front and then the balance won't be subject to the new rate because they have a six month invoice 'holiday'. Another dealer wants full payment. Confusing isn't it.
