Vauxhall Grandland X driven

So what you're saying is that it's a small, 2WD, on-road car beefed up to look like a big off-road one.

Presumably in the process losing most of the benefits of being a small on-road car (such as economy, emissions and nippiness) and gaining a higher driving position and ... is that it? Apparently it isn't improved towing limits.

I said recently that the VW Tiguan R-line, which is a 4x4 that has had its suspension lowered so it can't go off-road any more was proof that the world had gone mad. But if there really is demand for this Vauxhall, then it has totally lost its marbles.
 
Well it’s cars like this one , and other makers equivalents, that’s causing sales of the Astra and other makers hatchbacks to fall as people chose these mini SUV/Crossovers. Like them or not they are selling well. Personally I would go for the new Astra hatchback as its all the things the mini SUV isn’t. But in most things I go for function over form.
 
I can see the attraction for many people but it is simply too light for our needs so will not go on our shopping list.
 
Considering the number of 4x4's that never tow and never go off road it should do quite well. Not sure about the name though as it doesn't strike me as particularly grand in any way. It's the way people are these days and we can't blame Vauxhall for jumping on the band wagon. The Datsun Kisskey has been going quite well from launch so good luck Vauxhall, I'm sure if there's ever enough demand for a 4x4 version they'll do one.
