Today I took the above car for a drive on a normal A road and then on a B road. Found the steering to be a bit light but acceptable. What I was really looking for was a smooth changing gear box and in this case the gearbox and engine were a good marriage with plenty of oomph and no hunting for gears like the Mondeo. However I was very disappointed in the amount of road noise entering the cabin plus the engine was not insulated very well. I drove the SRI model and the seats were not very comfortable. The Exclusive and SE models are far more comfortable. Good towing machine. No bluetooth connection in the car as this is a £200 extra but standard in the Mondeo.
Overall not a bad car, but too much noise into cabin and I really mean noise. Also you knew when there wasa a bump in the road. Unless Bluetooth was standard I don't think I would consider purchasing the Insignia. The Astra that I test drove seem to have better handling, but again road noise was an issue. Seems to be a common issue with Vauxhalls.
I guess I will have to adapt my driving to the Mondeo parameters.
