A workmate was looking to buy a Zafira 2.0TD to tow her caravan but when she told the salesman the MTPLM was 1400 kgs he told her the Zafira would not be able to tow her caravan. Can anyone tell me if this would be correct.
 
The short answer is yes. The towload limit of the 2.0DTI is 1050kg (if it has air conditioning, 1100kg without).

If she wants to tow 1400kg with a diesel Zafira she'll have to wait until the new Zafira 1.9CDTI arrives. Both the 120hp automatic and the 150hp manual or automatic would be up to the job.
 
Towing limits are substantially increased on the new Zafira, just announced. The 1.9 CDTi (120PS) has limits of 1300 kg for the manual and 1400 kg for the auto.
