Hi Andrew, like you we ventured to France for the first time with the van. Got back on Mon after 2 weeks in Southern Brittany. We stayed at La Baie at La Trinite Sur Mer and its about 1 1/2 hrs drive further south then Benodet. The weather was great, we had friends in a gite at Benodet at the same time as us and they had cloudy weather when we had sun. We had one wet day in the two weeks and it did rain a bit at night but what an improvement on the 2 weeks in Cornwall last year. La Baie is perfect if you have children. There are two lovely beaches right outside the campsite and lots more dotted around. The only time we used the car was to go food shopping. La Trinite is a short walk along the coast path and has a lovely marina. It is very popular place for sailing and windsurfing. The site is small, there are some statics, but you hardly notice them as they are in a seperate area. Nice pool with a waterslide and a lovely pool for kiddies when our twins (4) splashed for ages. Have booked 3 weeks for next year. From Roscoff a 3 hr drive. Also we went to the Vendee two yrs ago in a villa and I have to say I much preferred the area of where we were this yr. I found St John De Monts a bit tacky and there is no lovely scenery. The area around La Trinite reminded me of the Scilly Isles - beautiful. Hope this helps Denise.

Well I've been to the Vendee quite a few times - a diappointing part of France to me - but I've never been to the Scilly Isles!

And furthermore I'm not going!
