VENTS

Firstly Hi to everyone as I am new to this site and in my first year as a Touring Caravaner. Last weekend my wife and I were enjoying a weekend away in the Van during the strong winds. During the night there was a constant rattle or knocking from somewhere behind the fridge. I have a Bailey Ranger. Has anyone else had this problem and if so what could be the problem and remedy as it is so annoying and keeps me awake

Hello Madmi,

Welcome to the forum,

The vents behind the fridge are essential for the safe operation of the fridge, however there should be nothing loose enough to rattle in the wind so that needs investigating..

Removal of the vents from the outside may reveal what the problem is, but if its of no help than it may need the fridge to be removed. As the fridge is a gas appliance I strongly recommend this should be done by a competently trained fitter, who will have the knowledge and equipment to test the systems are working properly when put back.

Many Thanks Prof, the Van is due to have an annual service and I think I will get it professionally investigated as I know zero about vans. It is more import and to get a decent nights sleep in windy weather
