The section of the M5 between Weston-S-M and Bridgwater is just about the only place I regularly get weaving.

I suspect that this is down to sidewinds caused by the geography of the Severn estuary, Somerset levels, Mendip and Polden Hills.

I now always watch out for this on this section and I would guess this is the area you are talking about.

Look at the geography next time you are passing through.
 
May I also suggest that the road in question could be rutted by heavy lorries but at night these ruts are not apparent so not linked to the swaying.
 
pain in the proverbial them ruts, the m60 ring road is just the same and the van seems to just fit in them but the car does not which causes untold problems with stability.

Totaly agree with the m5 as well we have had problems in the past in this area and have put it down to wind conditions, we just slow down for that stretch of road and have no further problems.
