hi we are taking our dog abroad for the first time to Grubhof in Austria and wanting to know if anyone has used a vet around there before travelling back to Calais.

Hi Craig, I havent use a vets in Austria, but have used one twice in Switzerland and 11 times in France, Its cheaper to take your own Worming tablets from your UK vets, to use in Switzerland, but in France there is not much difference in Price for doing the worming using your own or the Foreign vets tabs.

Yes any vet, will do, some give a very good check of your dog and administer the worming tablet especially if they are not used to doing the pet passport. Others will just give the tablet and take your money. We have our two favourite ones now, Montruel sur Mer in Northern France, and Pfaficon in Switerland. The French one is considerably cheaper, especially as we have two dogs. And the window to get home is now 24 hours to 72 hours, so plenty of leaway. There were rumours that the worming was going to be done away with , but nothing yet.

Thanks Tukums, a good site, also remember folks that there are a lot more ticks in Europe than here in the Uk, Scalibor, tick and flea collars, seem to be the prefererd one, available from most Chemists in France. The one that does, ticks, fleas, sand flys and mosquitoes are the best, about €25 to 30 .
