Villanova Park, Spain CATERPILLARS!!!

Greetings All,

I have been talked out of going to the above site by a mate who tells me they have problems at one time or other through the year by.......... wait for it...........

CATERPILLARS!!!

I understand that these can be in plague proportions and having a wife who has a fear of them rules out this site at whatever time they are on the move.

Is it true? and more importantly if so, when does it happen.

i spent a month there last Xmas - new year ,never saw a caterpilar all the time i was there ,what was a pain was trying to seal the awning against cats coming in , what makes it worse is people feeding them ,after i chased them off a few times they got the message ,we used to sit up by the outside pool and soak up the sun ,so i took my shirt off ,10 mins later i turned around and saw a cat asleep on my top

i hope i havent put you of Del ,i will go again this year ,most days we would start of in the Gym then a swim then a Sauna all 3 for 3 euro , wifi is about 30 euro a month , plenty of shade around the pitches , satellite works good there ,bus goes to the beach , resevoir a few miles away for fishing , all the shops you can think of in Barcelona ,pub ,Reataurant and take away on site 3 swimming pools ,football, tennis, basketball , a massive toilet block very clean ,new year we had a bit of street party all nationalities there it was great fun

Hi del,

I'm guessing your mate is refering to the processionary caterpillar. If you do a google search you will find loads of info on this.

Apparently the caterpillars are active in May and June when they leave their nests high up in pine trees. It's been mentioned on here a few times. They are hairy caterpillars which can cause quite a nasty allergic reaction to some people.
