Vodafone Mi-Fi R207

I have one of these (same as a Huawei E5330) which I bought in Portugal. It works fine in Portugal but, of course, not in other countries. I've noticed that there are quite a few companies on the 'net who offer unlocking codes (at a price) but have any other forumites ever used them to unlock a similar product? I've taken the device to various high street shops but they have all stated that it can't be unlocked.

Oh yes it can. Look here

I have one that is unlocked but I warn you that unlocking does NOT remove the manufacturer logo. Mine shows as 3 even though it has a GiffGaff SIM in it!

Paul, are you sure it's not the phones internal settings for roaming that are locked, for going into other countries. I have been on Vodafone for over thirty years for various stupid reasons. And for at least the last ten years all my phones were not locked to Vodaphone and I could change sims to other companies. Due to working all over the world. But as Woodentop says , it stillhas Vodafone logos on start up.

Er, a E5330 is a mi-fi, not a phone - as indeed the original mesage header says..

3 ceased locking of all phones a couple of years ago. IME VF never locked contract phones, only PAYG. EE still lock everything AFAIK, and I think O2 do as well.

It was one of the reasons CPW never sold Orange as those phones were locked which meant a specific stockholding, whereas they could hold generic phones for all the other SPs as they could be supplied unlocked.
