I am in a bit confused with the calculation on towing with this car my caravan is MTPLM 1600kg Sterling, the cars unladen weight is1689kg, gross vehicle weight is 2230kg, will this car pull my caravan safely.? Is the Car kerb weight the same as unladen weight ? I am using the PC calculator the car is a Tiguan auto.
Thanks Paul

Hi Paul

On your log book what does it say for item O.1 ( braked kg ) ??

Also there is a plate on your car that gives you four separate figures

One will be for your gross weight
One will be for your train weight ( that will have the highest figure )
One will be for your max front axle load
And the other will be for your rear axle ...

You have said that the van has a MTPLM of 1600kg and the car is 2230kg with out the other figures it's hard to say if it's legally ok to tow then there come's the clincher what year did you pass your driving test or have you got B+E on your licence ?
