volvo xc90 2003 electrics when towing

hi can any advise me
i have just bought volvo xc90 2003 and have just changed the 7 pin plug to 13 pin plug for towing caravan
when i connected to caravan the atc light keeps flashing green which has not happened before but also all the lights stop on when i try to switch them off is this normal for this volvo or i think the 13 pin wireing has been fitted wrong
if someone could advise me it would be appreciated
thanks

The ATC light will/should stop flashing when you drive forwards for a short distance. As for the lights, does the Volvo have DRL's?

Phil92,
Not understanding what you are trying to say - how do you "switch off " caravan lights.
My understanding is that Volvo car lights are "on" when the car engine is running in which case the caravan road light will also be "on" when connected to the car with the car engine running. Are you trying to switch off the caravan road lights when connected to the car and with the car engine running. If so why?.

hi bertieboy i am confused as to why the caravan lights should be on when runnning with this volvo as with our other car it has daytime running lights but caravan lights are off is it because its how volvos are or is there a fault with electrics that has just been fitted
all i want to no is this normal that your caravan lights are on when running through daytime
very confused
thanks

Normal daylight running lights are only on the FRONT of cars, so will not power any rear light, which are the ones duplicated on the caravan.

Volvos have rear lights on as well.

WC, remember that on a 2003 Volvo the lights will be main / dipped lights and not the newer DRL's so may be hooked into normal lights for trailers.
We need some one with that era of Volvo xc90 to help.
By the way Phil, welcome to the forum.
Hutch.
