VW T4 Auto gearbox sump plate

Hi. I own a twenty year old Autosleeper camper based on a 1993 VW T4. 2.5 litre petrol with an auto box. The sump plate at the base of the gearbox has corroded badly and I need a replacement, or some way of fixing it. The auto box was apparently mostly fitted to campers and VW stopped stocking the replacement in 2009. Does anyone know where I could get a new one, or, more probably, a reasonable second hand one....even one that could then be strengthened. Or, alternatively, does anyone have any ideas about how I can get over the problem?? The van has it's twentieth birthday next week and is in very good condition, so I am fairly desperate for a solution.

Hi Neil - As you say the Auto's were few & far between. I think you could be looking for a long time for one. Have you tried a local Sheetmetal workshop, they may be able to find a solution by either producing a new one or repairing the existing.
 
We buy and sell Autosleeper campers and have contacts all over UK. Could send out feelers if you wish to see if anyone can help you out or give advice. How far would you be prepared to travel if required.
