Wall mounted TV

Hi
Does anyone know if you can mount a TV on the wall of your van, Only a 19" flat screen.
Is it possible and if so can you have a tilted bracket?

Hi Smiley I see no reason why you shouldn't mount a small TV on the wall but the TV should not be mounted while towing. I replaced the slide-on/off mount for the TV that came with my Senator California with a tilt/swivel (but still slide-on / off) mount from CAK Tanks. Its on page 104 of their catalogue, ref FPORTV8083 and costs £21-87 www.caktanks.com
However. my TV has its own dedicated mounting "panel" that can be rotated between living room and bedroom. Its not actually mounted on a wall. Suitable cavity fixings would be required because the insulation between the inner and outer skins of the wall has no structural strength.

The internal walls of most caravans are only very thin plywood and there is no way they would take the weight of even a small flat-screen TV. If you were very lucky and could find the internal bracing, then it might work, but I wouldn't risk it. The other possible snag is that the TV will be on full view of passers-by and might be susceptible to theft when in service stations or other places when the 'van is unattended. There are some clever TV brackets around now which slide up and down and you might find one which would rest on some furniture to take the weight but much would depend on the layout of your 'van.

i notice you have a swift. if you go onto swift Talk and post a thread either Andy or Ash, who are employed by swift will answer, and e-mail you the positioning of the wooden frames within the walls of your van

I have a 19 inch flat screen fixed to a swing out bracket towed it to devon and back and when home I switched on to re-tune the tv and the picture was all green.
Now the good bit, I had it insured and good old Currys gave me a new one.
Lesson one unfix tv before towing, pack away well.

Fitted a 15" to our Bailey Arizona when we had it, on the dividing wall to the bathroom, did not use a bracket marked out the 4 securing screws drilled through the wall, smear of lock tight on the threads, matching cap covers to the screw heads and towed all over Europe with it in situ, no probes at all. Permanently wired in to a sky box under the bed locker, Maxiview crank up dish mounted on the roof, one less job to do when you are seting up. Now have a Bailey California where the TV can be swivelled aroud between lounge and bedroom, when travelling just turn the TV round to face the bedroom, again never had a problem and if it does fall it will have a soft landing on the bed! and once again permanently wired in to the sky box with a maxiview dish mounted up on the roof.
Just returned from the NEC and might have to start all over again as we have our eyes on the new Pegasus Bologna, California anyone, with loads of extras?
