wardrobe hanging rail

Alan B.

when travelling the clothes and the hangers keep coming off the rail in the wardrobe. The rail runs front to back, has anyone else had this problem, and, what is the answer.

from alan B.

A length of masking tape run along the top or side of the coathangers has always worked for us.

You can usually get a couple of rolls from your local pound shop.

A length of the foam pipe lagging over the hanging rail, hang the hangers over this whilst in transit, and they won't move at all. Either that or use wire hangers, and 'squeeze' the wire hook into a more rounded shape.

Alternate the way you place the hangers on the rail, e.g. first hook faces inwards, next hook faces outwards, etc. We have never had a problem with the hangers coming off the rail placed like this.

We had this problem in a previous 'van and tried the pipe-lagging, etc. In the end, the only thing that worked consistently was to cut a bit of wood to the same length as the rail and screw 2 15mm plastic pipe clips to it - one at each end. This was just clipped into place over the hanger hooks at the start of each journey.

We have used the pipe foam lagging for years

We place it over the top of the coat hangers and also put the two end hangers over the foam to hold it in place

We bought, very cheaply, some hotel style hangers, you slide the rings over the rail and the hangers drop into a slot. Not one has come off in the last two years.Cost about ten pounds on E-Bay.They are also very good, wide trouser hangers, with a little bit of anti slip stuff on the part where the shoulders of coats/jackets hang so they don't slip off on the way.
