Wareham area

Having had good feedback from forum about Cotswold sites I would like any feedback members could offer on Hunters Moon C.M.C site or a C.L site. We are intending on a 9/10 night stay mid July, cheers Somersetboy.

We stayed there a number of times and enjoyed it. Easy access to Wareham Forest with miles of walking and cycling paths. Good for Swanage, Studland, Corfe and Arne. Nice pub The Silent Woman just a few steps outside the gates. Good dog walking area out of the rear gate straight into heath. Nice Gurkha restaurant not that far away too. Plus F&C in Wareham sitting overlooking the river. 👍

Thanks for your help. Is the site OK clean, tidy etc?
Yes it’s a CMHC site which we have always found to be of a good standard. And reasonably spaced out pitches. A commercial site of good standard nearby is Wareham Forest Touring Park and has direct access into Wareham Forest.
The Gurkha restaurant deliver to both sites.

There are a couple of independent sites very close to Wareham , Red Cliff is one I believe , I can’t remember the other sites name , only basic sites , hook up , shower block etc on grass but you can walk into Wareham by the river path.
Just to throw them in the mix, depends on what facilities you are looking for. I had a look at Hunter Moon.

Wareham itself is very nice - we visited there last week whilst we were staying at Back of Beyond site on the Dorset/Hants border - the only Saxon church in Dorset is there ( if you are interested), inside which there is an effigy of T.E. Lawrence, and an inscription high up dedicated to several members of the Carruthers family.

The Wareham Forest Tourist Park looks very nice, we may well look at that for next year.

Thank you for your reply , I did look at the Wareham Forest site but think a little bit to commercialised for us which reflected in the cost ok for families etc (if they can afford it)

Another nice site, although we like the adult only sites now.

Back of Beyond is a great site ( this was our 2nd time here), and this time we explored the New Forest as well as various other places including Wareham and Poole.

I took a few photos 🤣🤣🤣
