I’m the owner of a 2025 Bailey Discovery D4-2 and wanted to share a recent experience that might help others.
I was looking for the yellow boiler valve under the seat to close it but couldn’t find it, so I decided to take the spare wheel out. While searching through other forums, I noticed that no one seems to have attempted this—likely because most haven’t had to use the spare wheel yet. But when they do, they’re in for a bit of a shock.
Have any of you D4-2 owners tried removing the spare wheel from its storage space under the seat? If not, be very careful—I ended up shearing off the Whale Watermaster socket from the wall while trying to remove the wheel. Luckily, my boiler hadn't been filled, otherwise the caravan would have been flooded.
I just wanted to bring this potential issue to the attention of other D4-2 owners. It seems like a design flaw worth being cautious about.
After breaking that pipe on the back of the Whale Watermaster, you can see the black rubber marks on the hose where the spare wheel came into contact . It's definitely a design fault where the hose connects. This morning, I put the wheel back where it belongs, and after the caravan is fixed, I will ask the dealer to remove the wheel. I can see this happening every time—maybe there’s a knack to it, or perhaps the pipe needs to be rearranged closer to the wall.
I'm not sure if they'll put it through as a warranty claim; we’ll wait and see. I’d be really disappointed if they charge me, as I feel like I was set up to fail. I'm sure there are a lot more people here with a D4-2 who don’t know this can happen. I hope they read this and are now aware.
