A friend has just purchased a used caravan privately. Its a Swift Lifestyle June 2005 model. Will he get the benefit of the manufacturers and dealers warranty. Will he have to pay to re-register with CRiS in his name. And lastly will the original dealer continue to service the the caravan to maintain it and retain the warranty.

Regards Jim

It is a murky old world with warranties and British manufacturers. Some do, and some don't, and some will if you pressure them.

All I can suggest is contact the manufacturer direct and if they play 'naughty' suggest that a letter to the caravan press is on the way. It may not do any good, but would make yyou feel better. Also, if major faults do appear, that are not the result of negligence, you may have claims for recompense under the Sale of Goods Act. If this happens, and if you have a tame lawyer get him/her to put in a letter on headed paper, you never know they may decide to pay you off rather than risk going to Court.

The Cris deal is pretty straightforward, you are merely paying to have the registration transferred, if it is only

Denise,

We've just treated ourselves to a Lunar (2005 LexonCS) and we dragged it even farther back to Cornwall. We bought ours in Driffield. Yorkshire. The good news for us is that the dealers in Yorkshire;Frys, lost their Service Manager in November because he emigrated to Cambourne and has set up business. He has authority to do warranty work and annual servicing for Lunar. I dont know if I am allowed to give details so perhaps the mod can remove this if I am not.Auto Leisure Specialist ,Trevu Rd,Cambourne
Del - I have seen an advert in the Cornish Guardian stating that this chap (can't remember his name) is back in Cornwall and has set up his own business. All I can remember is that it is opposite the railway station in Cambourne. We could take it to him for servicing but we still do not have the warranty as we are the second owners. Have you bought yours from new? Nice to hear from someone in Cornwall - whereabouts are you? Denise

Denise,

Dont know Cambourne but I,ve just been on Multimap and Trevu Road is v.close to the railway Station.

I seem to remember that the guys name was Steve but cant be sure but it seems to be the same firm.

We bought our 2005 Lexon CS 'new'in Novemebr from Frys of Driffield. We had only had the previous van, a Bailey Champagne also from new since last July but we couldnt get used to making the bed up. The crunch came in October when we spent a month around the pyrenees. Me and the other half spent the first fortnight not knowing how to broach the subject that neither of us was enjoying the experience. We both plucked up the courage to tell the other on the same night!!! When we got back we went touring the dealers for a fixed bed model. We saw a Lexon CS in Somerset and then went up to Yorkshire for a function(I'm only doing missionary work down in Cornwall since I retired from t'up north. We found the CS in Driffield and got a better deal (to the tune of

Del, What a small world. We live in Luxulyan Nr Bodmin, but used to live in Saltash and I was the branch manager of LloydsTSB in Callington for a few years. My husbands parents live in Gunnislake so we are always passing through. We haven't been away in our van yet first trip is at Easter. My husband is going on the CC course which is at Duchy college is March. At the moment neither of us know anything about caravanning we just thought it would be a good way to holiday now with our three little ones A 4 yr old and 18month old twins! Are you pleased with your van. I couldn't believe that when I joined this forum everyone seemed to be slating Lunars goung on about leaks etc and we had already bought the van. Lets hope its OK. Denise,

Good old 30-67-79 (Dont you just love codes!)

If Hubby is going to Duchy can I get my advert in first because no doubt the guys doing the course will tell him about it.

Devon and Cornwall Centre of the Caravan Club are holding their 50th Birthday at a rally at Boconnoc at East Taphouse on the May Day Bank Holiday Weekend. Theres loads to see and do and if youre new to 'vanning you will get to meet loads of local people who caravan and rally. I know for a fact that someone from Luxulyan regularly rallies with D and C. If you want any details send an email to me at dbooth899@hotmail.com and I'll try to cut and paste the blurb. Dont hold your breath though. Iv'e only just mastered breathing and typing at the same time!
