We have a 2011 Autotrail Navajo and have just had the habitation inspection done. The rear window and side windows are both misting up and chrome trim on outside of motorhome needs replacing. The dealership said they would put in a claim under warranty. The dealership have now told us that our claim has been refused. Apparently although we had a 3 year warranty we have now been told that only the first 12 months is with Autotrail and the remaining 2 years warranty is with a company called MB & G. Bearing in mind that the mileage is only about 4000ish miles and the motorhome is only just 2 years old surely the windows should have lasted longer and are not fit for purpose. We have been quoted by dealership approximately £900 + fitting for the work to be carried out. Can any of you give us any advice/tips on how to fight this and have any of you had any dealings with the company MB & G.

Hi, I have always understood and with experience found that misting in van windows clears itself once opened to the sun. They are not the same as our home windows when the seal goes ! that wont clear itself and do need replacing. We complained when we bought a new caravan about 97 and was told to remove the plastic bungs dry with a hairdryer and then put the bungs back (we bought new ones) Now with a motorhome ! I havent experienced it yet with our new van, but with the last one I just opened the windows wide until it cleared. I cant speak for the outside of the windows with the trim losing its chrome !! that sounds bad for a 2 year old van and I would seek advise on that one! its not a very good advert for Autotrail is it and £900 is scanderlous.sorry I cant be more help.

What about the Window Manufacturer - try or get the Dealer to submit a claim direct to them. IMO much more chance of success.

Autotrail have said that this is quite normal and even if we had new windows they would still probably mist up from time to time and it is nothing to worry about. The price of the trim quoted by the dealership was apparently for a whole roll and not for the short piece that we needed. How many people would just have paid for this and not queried it?
